"OH THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!" - ANDROID NAVIGATION
WHAT'S NEW AND HOW DOES IT WORK? / Britt Barak (Nexmo)
You’re building your app, you’re out on your way, activity to fragment, you’ll add deeplinks one day. Notifications, transitions, you pass arguments, too. Just a messy piece of cake, for a developer like you! But then the user hits back, or up or away — What should happen? You’re lost! The road starts to sway! They talked about launch modes, affinity, activity stack... We will deep-dive to those, then learn the new stuff from Jetpack!
Kotlin isn't just a new language for Android development! It can be used anywhere you would use Java. This includes developing powerful backends or micro services that extend your Android front-ends. In this talk, we will look at Kotlin on the server side and show you how to quickly deploy Kotlin autoscaling backends by demoing a Kotlin Android app connected to a Kotlin backend (hosted on App Engine Standard) that acts as a Cloud Function. Our application will also integrate some of the most popular Google Cloud APIs. Finally, we will present you some Google resources to get started with Kotlin on the server side.
